vivo has started working on the new Y29 family that will appeal to the affordable market. The Chinese manufacturer will introduce two models, Y29 5G and Y29e 5G, with this series. What do the smartphones seen in the IMEI database promise?
vivo Y29 and Y29e 5G are coming
According to Gizmochina, the vivo Y29 5G is listed with model number V2420, while the vivo Y29e 5G comes with model number V2421. This suggests that they will have different variants targeting different price points.
Compared to the vivo Y28 5G, the new Y29 series is expected to feature a better display. Accordingly, it will reportedly come with a 6.5-inch HD+ display that supports 120Hz refresh rate. It is also likely to be powered by MediaTek’s mid-range Dimensity chip.
In addition to 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage capacity, the Y29 series will also offer expandable storage thanks to microSD card support. On the camera side, it is thought that the dual setup will be maintained.
On the other hand, vivo Y28 series went on sale in Turkey recently. Y28 comes with a very large 6.68-inch screen, offering a 90Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits brightness on this panel. Y28 carries an 8 Megapixel selfie camera just above the screen.
On the back, there is a 50 Megapixel sensor as the main camera, along with a 2 Megapixel bokeh lens. The vivo Y28, which comes out of the box with the Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 operating system, is IP64 water and dust resistant.
